This is just a glorious morning sunrise, with the sun filtering through the tree branches to barely touch the iris blossoms. It was always wonderful to wake up on our sailboat and see the early morning sights before anyone else began to stir. Vibrant colors like this always make me happy.
This is a wonder of civil engineering dating from 1829 – the Monocacy Aqueduct on the C&O Canal. It has survived countless floods and other forces of nature for nearly 200-years now, and looks to keep going strong for many centuries to come. It fell into disrepair for a long time, but was restored back in 2005.
Every time I go down to Rosslyn, I’m always wandering around drop-jawed. I used to work in Rosslyn back in the 1990s, and it’s always been one of the fastest developing business spaces that I’ve ever seen – with new buildings and construction constantly happening over the years. And unlike DC – right across the river – Rosslyn doesn’t have the height restrictions, and they build tall there.
