Status of the Blooms

Wildflower bloom – Poolesville, Maryland

So many blooms have come forth now that it’s impossible to keep up with them; however, I have a special patch of flowers that I’ve been keeping an eye upon. Last year – at the beginning of the pandemic – I planted a big package of Ferry-Morse wildflower mix in our front yard. I marked out a section of our lawn, dug up the sod, prepped the soil, planted the seeds, watered the patch regularly, and enjoyed the resulting blooms until late into the fall.

But I didn’t know if the wildflowers would return as perennials or annuals, so I’ve been patiently waiting to see what would come up. And here they are!

So far, it appears that nearly everything has come back and the first early bloomers have begun producing beautiful flowers for the bees, moths, and butterflies to enjoy.
